PRACTICE HISTORY
The practice has been serving Romford and the surrounding area for over 90 years.
In 1964, the Western Road Medical Centre was established in one of the country's first purpose-built medical centres.
In 1968, the medical centre was the first in the country to employ its own practice-based nurse. Since that time the practice has continued to build on its enterprising reputation.
In 1988, due to constraints on surgery space and redevelopment of the surrounding site, the practice moved further along Western Road to its current, specially-designed premises. In 1989 the London Borough of Havering awarded the practice first prize in its Environmental Awards Scheme.
Since 2001 the practice has been contracted to, and overseen by, the Havering Primary Care NHS Trust (PCT). This organisation brings together local health care professionals to give a lead in planning and improving local health services. Occasionally the practice will have to adhere to PCT recommendations especially in areas of prescribing and referral.
We hope to provide comprehensive medical care of the highest quality, offering a personal, friendly service to our patients in a modern and extensively equipped medical centre.
